Video Poker |
Videopoker is another game played in slot machine form. In videopoker, players hold or discard from five displayed cards. In case of cards being discarded, players can either choose from a second deal or stand with pat hand.
Introduced back in 1980’s videopoker has grown rapidly into one of the casino’s most popular games. However, videopoker is a quite different from ordinary poker. Poker is played on a table against other players while videopoker is played individually on a machine that uses video technology to create poker hands.
Based on a five card stud, the objective of videopoker is to build the best possible five-card hand. Payoffs are based on scale. Like slot machines, videopoker machines are available in many denominations, and some casinos even offer progressive payoffs for Royal Flushes or special hands.
Rankings of video poker:
Five of a Kind (best)
Royal Flush
Straight Flush
Four of a Kind
Full House
Flush
Straight
Three of a Kind
Two Pair
A pair (minimal ranking)
The major differences between videopoker with table poker are:
1. In videopoker the house is represented mechanically.
2. You don’t have to calculate what the other player’s hand could be.
3. You cannot bluff
4. You do not get risked being cheated. If you have a strong hand you will win. |
