Blackjack |
Blackjack is a quiet a popular game that has rocked casinos around the world for decades. The basic objective of Blackjack is to accumulate cards with point totaling close to 21 but not crossing 21. Aces value 1 or 11, while other cards are represented by their numbers.
If the first two cards dealt are an Ace and a 10 then it is an automatic player win at 1.5 to 1, unless the game ties. To win a game of blackjack, you are required to beat the dealer without busting (values of individual cards sum up to 21 or more).
A blackjack table holds place for 6 players and either 6 or 8 decks of cards are dealt by the dealer and placed in a card dispensing box ‘Shoe.’ Before receiving any card each player must place a wager after which two cards face up. The dealer gets one face up and one down. Each player either stays or takes more cards in turns and tries to get close to 21.
If a player makes a total of 21 with and 10 or a face and an Ace then he is the automatic winner. This is the blackjack. A player having a black jack wins one and a half times his bet unless the dealer also has a blackjack in the event of which the game ends in a tie.
The remaining players with a higher count than that of the dealer win an equal amount of their bet while players with a lower count than the deal lose. In case the dealer busts all the other players win.
Betting options are namely:
Insurance - side bet up to half the initial bet against the dealer who has a natural 21. This is allowed only if the showing card of the dealer is an Ace. In case the dealer has a 10 face down and makes a blackjack, insurance pays at 2 to 1 odds, but loses if the dealer does not.
Surrender - when a player gives up his hand and loses only half the bet.
Early Surrender - surrendering before the dealer checks for the blackjack.
Late Surrender - when the dealer checks to see whether he has a blackjack. In case he does surrender is not permitted.
Double down - double your initial bet following the first two card deal, though you can hit one card only.
Even Money - when a player cashes his bet immediately at 1 to 1 payout ratio in case he has a blackjack and the dealer’s showing card is an Ace.
Split Hand - when a player splits the initial 2 card hand into two and plays separately. Split Hand is allowed only when the first two cards are of equal value.
Hard Hand - when a player gets a hand without an Ace or with an Ace valued at 1.
Soft Hand - when a player gets a deal that has an Ace and counted as 11. |
